HOW TO ORDER STEEL SHANKS In order to help you provide us with the necessary information which is essential to us for providing the steel shanks suitable for your needs, please note the following three options:
Our steel shanks are produced from the finest steel C60 in the following standard dimensions:
FURTHER INFORMATION: The shanks with ragged holes (as per above drawing) are used in case of application by pressure rollers and are not recommended in case of very curved lasts or in case of shanks longer than 120/125 mm. This is because this system is not as safe as the traditional “rivet application system”, due to the fact that the gripping flaps are subject to breakage when pressing. The most used shanks in Italy at the moment are the ones with holes for application with one or two rivets. This ensures a safe bondage with the shank-board although it works out a little more expensive (due to the cost of the rivets) Our prices for each of the above types are the same. For your information our shanks are stamped from a steel reel. Initially the holes are punched in the correct position, then the stiffening rib is pressed and the shank is cut and shaped to the correct measure and curvature. Our shanks are tempered in salts, therefore heated up to 900°C and then rapidly cooled in order to obtain an always even tempering. After receiving the lasts (or cardboard) from you. we will tell you if we have a matrix in stock which matches your needs. In this case the delivery terms are standard (2/4 weeks after receipt of order). However, if we do not have the correct matrix in stock, we will have to make it from scratch, and this will take some time extra. (in this case please allow approx. 60 days). From our price list you will note that the minimum amount per order is 5000 pairs for each article, therefore in case of ordering a complete set of shanks for the whole range (for example 34 to 42) your minimum order will be 5000 pairs for each curvature 35/38/41.
